R.I.P. George “the Animal” Steele & My Childhood

World Wrestling Federation wrestler George “The Animal” Steele —real name William James Myer—died yesterday at the age of 79. George was not a great technical wrestler. In fact, he never won a title belt. But he was an interesting and unorthodox character. He was best known for his incredibly hairy upper torso, bald head, green tongue, and ability to tear open the corner turnbuckles with his teeth.

Despite his animalistic behaviors in the ring, people who knew or met George found him to be an incredibly nice, smart, and personable man.

RIP George “the Animal” Steele!
